Ham Tech Library FAQ

Well, this site is just starting, but here are some answers to expected questions.

Q: I need help with…
A: I would love to be able to help people individually, but I am just getting this channel and site off the ground. Check with your local club to see if you can find an elmer.

Q: What makes you an expert?
A: A desire to help and some inquisitiveness. I’ve (Jim N4BFR) been a ham for over 12 years. I hold an Amateur Extra license from the US FCC. I have experience with International Operating, I’ve been net control for the biggest summer event in Atlanta, I’ve received DXCC, WAS and WAC awards.

Q: Can you go into more detail on…
A: Maybe, but probably not. The mission for this channel is to provide short videos to get folks started on a particular topic. Sometimes topics will need more than 1 video, but the initial plan to to be broader with the videos rather than deeper on particular topics.

Q: How can I support making more videos?
A: Subscribe & Share the Ham Tech Library YouTube Channel. The more people who watch and subscribe, the more people it will be available to. If you would like to leave me a tip, I keep a tip jar on my N4BFR.com page.

Q: Can you be a little more serious?
A: Probably not. It’s how I’m made. If you are concerned about how I talked about CB in HTL-4, it was all in fun.

Q: What else do you do?
A: I am a retired technology executive. I have a personal blog at n4bfr.com and I manage the N4BFR Vision YouTube Channel. In addition to some ham and shortwave stuff there, I do electronics builds and travel videos.

Q: How often is this site updated?
A: After the initial launch, the goal is to add at least one video every Tuesday.

Q: Where can I leave a question or comment?
A: Please leave comments on the videos at YouTube, this will allow the most people to see them.

Q: Can I help with the site?
A: There will definitely be topics that fit in the site which I don’t have the basics on. It would be great to get to a place where the site could handle user created videos as well, that’s on the coming soon list with a lot more videos. For now, help promote the YouTube channel and help answer questions there would be the best places to start.
